The privacy of visitors to Cult Definition ( is important to us.

Cult Definition collects two kinds of information:

Anonymous Information

Anonymous information allows us to track the usage of this web site.

How many people visited? How many pages were read? Which pages are those? From which country did a visitor come? What type of browser did that visitor use? Does the browser have Flash and/or javascript enabled? Did the visitor come to the site via a search engine? If so, which one? And with which search query?

The information can also include your IP address and the name of your internet service provider.

Such information is used for statistical purposes, as well as to determine which parts of the website (or which topics) are more popular than others.

All these types of information are collected in two ways:

  • In the log files of the web server that hosts this web site
  • Via third party web site usage tracking services
  • Via cookies and web beacons used by advertisers

Information you provide

In only two instances will we ask you to provide personal information in the form of an email address:

  • When you use our contact form
  • When you sign up for the Headlines via Email service

Use of the contact form or signing up for the newsletter are completely optional.

The email address you provide when using the contact form is only used to reply to your message, if needed. These addresses are not collected nor shared, sold or rented to/with any third party.

When signing up for the newsletter, the email address you provide to FeedBlitz, the service that sends out the newsletter, is stored to be able to email you your newsletter. Cult Definition nor FeedBlitz share, sell or rent your email address to any third party.

Other applicable privacy policies

When you visit the Cult Definition web site you may indirectly use some third party services — if they are present on this web site. For instance, we may use third party advertisements to support the website. Other third party services provide added value, such as the ability to receive update via email or via an RSS newsreader.

Each of those third party services have their own privacy policy. We encourage you to read those privacy policies to fully answer all your privacy questions.

  • Amazon is used to deliver relevant book titles. Some pages have a special type of Amazon advertisement embedded. Those advertisements take into account other sites that carry Amazon ads, and which you — or someone using your browser — have visited.   • Google Analytics: Google Analytics shows us where our visitors come from, and how they interact with the site. No personally identifiable information is shared. In other words, we won’t know who you are, but we’ll know how many people found via, say, a search engine, another website, or a bookmark.   • FeedBlitz: FeedBlitz is a service which takes the last 10 or so headlines from a web site and turns them into an email newsletter. Signup, confirmation and sending out those newsletters for Cult Definition is handled by FeedBlitz. While you are subscribed to the email newsletter via FeedBlitz your email address is visible to us. Cult Definition links to external sites where appropriate. Those sites are not under the editorial control of Cult Definition and this privacy policy does not extend to those sites. The privacy policies of external sites may be in line with or conflict with this one. It is even possible that some external sites have no privacy policy in place at all.
